Diane Ostrowski, chief communications officer, has been named the 2019 Iowa Schools Public Relations Association Communicator of the Year.
“Diane fulfills many roles to ensure that the Council Bluffs Community School District’s message clearly expresses how students can Achieve More,” said Superintendent Dr. Vickie Murillo. “Her motivation and depth of caring for our students is always at the forefront.”
Diane has been a driving force in the Council Bluffs Community School District for more than 20 years. Recently, her exceptional leadership and strategic communications planning contributed to a successful kindergarten campaign resulting in the largest kindergarten class in several years, and a successful rebrand of the district. In 2018, she coordinated the communications plan that resulted in a successful bond election for an historic $37 million renovation of the district’s two middle schools.
Ostrowski has served as a chairman of the Iowa Urban Education Network (UEN), is a member of the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation board of directors, and co-founded a group of local communications professionals, Council Bluffs Public Relations or CBPR, who collaborate on the promotion of events to keep the positive momentum in the city.
Ostrowski received her award at the Iowa Schools Public Relations Association Spring Conference in Des Moines.
