The Council Bluffs Community School District is tackling school absenteeism head-on with the launch of its impactful "Attend Today, Achieve More Tomorrow" campaign, launched today. This initiative underscores the crucial link between consistent attendance and student achievement, aiming to empower students to reach their full potential.

"Every day counts when it comes to a child's education," said Dr. Vickie Murillo, Superintendent of Schools. "Research shows a direct correlation between regular attendance and academic success, including higher grades and increased graduation rates. This campaign is about equipping our students with the tools they need to thrive."

The district is fostering a collaborative approach, partnering with parents, teachers, and administrators to identify and address barriers to attendance. In a unique community partnership, Hy-Vee grocery stores will provide a 10% discount coupon in November to families of students with a 90% or higher attendance rate, at the end of our first quarter, so they may use them on their grocery purchase, and also receive a free dozen cookies per child.

“We look forward to partnering with HyVee throughout this campaign as we work together to support our families!” Dr. Murillo said. "We believe that through collaboration, we can continue to provide a supportive environment where every student feels motivated and empowered to attend school consistently." 

Superintendent Murillo invites the entire community to join us in this effort. Businesses, organizations, and individuals can play a vital role in incentivizing and rewarding students for their commitment to education.
