Social Studies

Young people need strong tools for, and methods of, clear and disciplined thinking in order to traverse successfully the worlds of college, career, and civic life.  Consequently in-depth, relevant social studies instruction is essential for all students.  We provide academic and authentic learning opportunities that spark interest in the social studies and enhance students’ abilities to understand the world around them.

The Council Bluffs Community School District offers a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to learning in social studies with courses in disciplines including history, government, economics, geography, and the behavioral sciences.  Our goal is to graduate students who are informed, engaged, and responsible citizens in their school, neighborhood, city, state, nation, and global communities.
