  • Mask-Wearing Optional for all Schools, Beginning Week of November 8-12

(November 5, 2021) Based on the LOW level (0-1.99%) of COVID-19 cases among students and staff members at each of our Council Bluffs schools, mask wearing will be OPTIONAL for students and staff members, beginning the week of Nov. 8-12, 2021. This is aligned with our Mask-Wearing Decision Matrix shared with parents on October 22nd. Each individual’s choice on whether or not to wear a mask will be respected, and we will continue to have masks available. Future communication about mask-wearing guidance will occur only if there is a change in status for any specific school.

  • Update to Mask Wearing at Schools to Begin in November

The Council Bluffs Community School District will be using the data collected the week of November 1 to implement the new three-tiered Mask-Wearing Decision Matrix, which takes into consideration our school data on the percent of current COVID-19 cases among students and staff at each school. We will also continue to monitor Pottawattamie County Public Health COVID-19 trends that might influence a change in health measures. We recognize that each of our buildings is different, so we will treat each building as a separate entity when considering COVID-19 data. Our goal is to be prepared to make adjustments, as necessary, if conditions related to COVID-19 change in our schools or the community.
