Today is an A day!


Students will be inside in the morning before school unless instructed otherwise.

Remember to get your hot breakfast immediately upon arrival at school in the morning. No breakfasts are served between 7:20 and 7:23. At 7:23 come immediately to the cafeteria to get your sack breakfast. Don’t go to your locker or advisement room first. You must have your sack breakfast or tardy pass when reporting late to advisement or you will be sent to the office to get a tardy pass.

There is no school tomorrow, November 17th.

The Boys and Girls Club is closed tomorrow, November 17th.

All 6th grade beginning band students need to remember to bring their instrument, music stand and music to the “ALL 6th grade band” rehearsals this Wednesday and Thursday during 1st period. After advisement class has been dismissed, please go directly to the band room for 1st period.

Picture Retakes are Tuesday, November 21st in the Kirn Library. Mrs. McGreevy will call your grade down when we are ready.

The final day to make a schedule change for Trimester 2 is December 1st.

Students: Reminder that when you return on Monday, you will be going to Trimester 2 classes. We will NOT be printing schedules. Please use your chrome to check your schedule on PowerSchool.

ALL 6th, 7th and 8th grade choir, orchestra and band students will start their annual fall cookie dough fundraiser today.  The kick off assemblies will be held in the auditorium.

6th grade choir, orchestra and band students meet in the auditorium during 2nd period (8:35-9:14)

8th grade choir, orchestra and band students meet in the auditorium during 4th period (10:00- 10:39)

7th grade choir, orchestra and band students meet in the auditorium during 7th period (12:27-1:06)

The Fundraiser Pick-Up has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 25th in the Auditorium, 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Students must ride the bus assigned to them. Only Jamie McCollough at the Educational Service Center, a Kirn Administrator or Kirn’s SAM can give the okay to ride a bus other than the one you’re assigned to. Parent and/or student notes do not work and the driver will only let you ride the bus you are assigned to ride. If you have a family emergency and need to ride a different bus, have you parent contact Kirn.

Check with your Advisement teacher to see what your Mid Tri 1 chrome book access score is today.

Boys basketball tryouts are October 12th &13th from 2:30-4:30.  Tryouts are open to boys in 7th and 8th grades only.  You must have a white card from Ms. Richardson in the Counseling Office to attend. You must be there both days.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Peterson.

Fundraiser: All orders handed in after 9/25/17 will not arrive with the first set of items. Those orders will come at a later date. Mrs. McGreevy will let you know when order pick up will be.

After School: Students must be under the supervision of a teacher, participating in a club, or participating in a sport to remain after school once school is out. Students can’t be at school unsupervised for an hour or two waiting to attend a game or match or waiting for a ride.

7th and 8th grade band students who are signed up for the SWIBA Middle School Honor Band auditions in Clarinda on Saturday, October 28th please sign up for an after school lesson this week and next week.


All 6th, 7th and 8th grade band students need to take their instruments home on Friday and practice.

Volleyball: The Reserve VB teams swept Glenwood Friday.

The C team won 25-23 and 25-3, the B team won 25-15, 23-25, 15-13 and the A team won 25-23 and 25-7. In the second set of the A game all but 2 points the team scored were on service aces led by a team high 16 by Azaria Green!

Lynx are in action tonight against LaVista!

The Kirn cross country team competed on Friday. Paige Bracker finished 4th in the 8th grade girls competition. The team also competed Saturday morning. Paige Bracker finished FIRST in the girls competition and Jazmin Martinez Rangel finished 5th in the girls competition. Good job, Lynx!

Students going on the history day field trip to the Council Bluffs Library on Thursday need to get their permission slips turned in to Mrs. Masker.

The concession stand will be open on Wednesday and Friday.

Students: Please have the two chrome book forms in today by 2:30.  You also need to pass the quiz with 100 % at each grade level.  Any students who don’t meet these requirements by 2:30 Friday will have their chrome book access level dropped to Level 2 (restricted).  If you have any questions, ask your advisement teacher.

1.  Students wearing “Lynx United” will be admitted free!!

 

2.  AL is the home team this year, meaning that once we enter we will be staying on the home side of the field.  We are not to be on the visiting side of the field at anytime.

3.  Also, 15 minutes before the game, all students must be in the stands before the anthem and stay in the stands during the game.  Students can use the concessions and restroom, but any students that are roaming, causing trouble will be asked to leave.

Football: Lynx JV Football won their first game Tuesday night 18-6 over LaVista. Two touchdowns from Caden McDowell. Solid defense and tackling by Steven Smith, Abe McIntosh and Owen Wilcoxen. Great job blocking by the offensive line. Varsity plays LC on Thursday at 4:00 pm at the Wick.

Today is a B Day .

Volleyball: The Reserve A and B teams both defeated Ralston last Thursday 25-14, 25-9 and 26-24, 8-25, 15-12!

The A Team was led by 7th grader Emilee Weseen with 9 pts, 6 Aces and 8th grader Hayley Orellana with 8 pts, 4 Aces. In the B game 8th graders Mary Camaal and Kailee Christensen scored 9 pts each with 3 Aces!

Volleyball: Varsity Won!! VS Westside First game 25-21 and second game 28-26. JV Won!! First game 25-20, second 14-25 and third 15-8

Congratulations to Paige Bracker who finished in first place in the girls division and Lucas Fitch who finished 7th in the boy’s division at the Glenwood Cross Country meet this past Saturday!

Start the school year off strong! Students who miss fewer than 2 days in September typically have good attendance rates for the entire year.
