Join the Harry Potter Club – Tuesdays in E201 – to critically view the movies, and discuss the writer’s versus the movie director’s or producer’s perspectives. Healthy snack alternatives for movie goers will also be a theme for trimester 2 gatherings.

They raised 86.12 and overall Key Club raised enough to provide a full meal for about 12 families. Thanks so much for your support and Key Club wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Congrats to the Chess Club! At the UNO Tournament this weekend, Megan Sinclair won in the under 500 division, Dakota Holderness won in the novice (unrated) division, and Isaac Lidgett brought home a perfect performance of 4 wins to dominate the under 1600 Division. Go Lynx!

  • “ALHS Drama presents “Please Say Yes”! This year’s selection is a variety of scenes that explore the cultural phenomenon known as “promposing.” They run the gamut from romance to rejection, allergies to magic tricks and everything in between, as teens ask that all-important question and await the answer…So, Please Say Yes, and join us for show times this Thursday and Friday at 7 pm and Saturday at 2 pm and 7 pm in the ALHS auditorium. Ticket are available at the door and cost $5 for students and $7 for adults.”
  • Wrestling meeting for anyone interested Thursday, November 2 after school in the wrestling room.
  • Basketball Boot Camp will be Wednesday and Thursday at AL 3:25-4:45. Former coach Rachel Nagunst will be running the drills. This will be a great way to prepare for the season.
  • It’s Boys Swimming Season!!! Practice starts Monday Nov 6. Team meeting tomorrow Wed right after school in Mr. Hansen’s room A-143

  • Table Tennis Club will meet this week on Tuesday and Thursday right after school in Mr. Wilder’s room A234. All students and teachers are welcome to join us.
  • Film Club will be showing the original 1990 TV Version of Stephen King’s It. Part 1 will be on Tuesday and Part 2 will be Thursday. Stay tuned for a special announcement about Friday’s Film.

Gideon consistently demonstrates servant leadership, whether holding the door open for his classmates, assisting with set up and take down of equipment, or fostering fellowship on his small or large group teams – Gideon gains happiness and success from offering kindness. Please help me to recognize the culture building assets that Gideon possess, and how those assets positively impact several learning communities.

  • This Week is Deca Week and we are focused on supporting those dealing with cancer in their lives. Our theme is Superheroes wear Pink. We have a lot of events planned for next week. Each teacher has a flyer in their room to help you plan. Monday, Please join us in honor all who have dealt with cancer by wearing a lavender or purple shirt and sign the poster in the commons for those you choose to honor, encourage, or remember.
  • Open Mat practice will begin on October 10 for anyone interesting in going out for wrestling this year.
  • The Google Fashionology Program will meet today after school at the Council bluffs Public library. If you need transportation to the library, please meet in the main office immediately after school. The bus will leave at approximately 1:40 PM
  • The Lynx Table Tennis Club will meet right after school today, everyone is invited, come check out our two new ping pong tables!
  • (Meybel) Giselle Diaz Gomez is our Lynx of the Week. Here is what her nominator had to say about her: Giselle is a fabulous student. She works hard every day in my classroom, and always achieves at the highest level. She has a very positive attitude and helps those around her to do their best.   • Seniors, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, is currently available for completion. If you are college bound after high school, you should give serious consideration to completing this application. FAFSA Help Completion Sessions are offered at AL on Tuesday, Oct. 10th from 4:30-7:30.
  • Students/Families are able to schedule help appointments by contacting Mona in the Counseling Center. The FAFSA may allow you to access funds to pay for college.
  • Congratulations to the 9th grade class for having the best ADA last week at AL or TJ. Please watch Friday for a treat in the lunchroom. Great job freshman.
  • Film Club movie for the day is: The Goonies. 3:45 in the Choir Room.
  • Guitar club is tomorrow! This week will focus on the songs of the late, great Tom Petty. Beginner guitar players are always welcome! Meet in Mr. Hoyt’s room (A218) after school every Thursday.

  • Harry Potter Club will be starting Tuesday, October 3rd in Ms. Reckling’s room, E-201, up by the ALHS Weight room. Read the books, watch the movies, and play Quidditch!
  • Students—-Join Ms. Bonham and Garden Club for fall clean up in the CourtYard Tuesday after school. We will be cleaning up gardens for the fall season. All are welcome–meet in Room A226 after school.
  • Seniors: If you still would like to order a Senior T Shirt, see Mrs. Nickolisen in Room A128 before Wednesday!
  • Want to make Al a Green Campus that takes care of the environment? Well join the AL Green Campus Initiative. We will have our first meeting this Thursday at 7:30 before school in B-159. Recycling and keeping the campus clean and green is the goal, help us make this a reality.
  • Senior class meeting Friday Oct.6 during REAL Time, all seniors must attend. Information on Graduation Announcements and Cap and Gown orders will be provided. If you are walking at graduation you need to order a Cap and Gown. If you have any questions please see Mr. Nelson in room A-145.
  • Girls Basketball Sign up in the office. Also, new players will need to order a practice jersey. Cost is $20. Sign up is until Oct. 13.
  • Due to muddy and wet conditions today gardening club will not be meeting for court yard clean up. No gardening club today—we will plan to meet next Tuesday.

  • All ALHS students interested in joining the Lynx Table Tennis Club come to our first meeting on Monday October 2nd in Mr. Wilder’s room A234, immediately after school. If you think you have mad ping pong skills or just want to have fun and get better this club is for you. See Mr. Wilder if you have questions.

  • Are you an inspiring actor? How about film maker? Or do you just like to watch interesting movies? If you answered yes then we have the club for you. Starting Tuesday Oct 3rd A.L.’s Film Club will open. We will be meeting in the Choir room from 3:45 to 5:45. After viewing we will discuss the film. There will even be guest speakers such as directors/actors/and script writers.The first movie being shown is 10 Things I Hate About You starring Heath Ledger. If you have any questions contact Mr. Schloesser or just show up on Oct 3rd.
  • Also, congrats to this weeks, Lynx of the Week, Kenadie Doty. Kenadie is always involved in AL, specifically in Student council, National Honor Society, Youth Leadership Council Bluffs, Football Manager, Cross Country, Bowling, Golf, Softball and the junior rep on the Superintendent advisory council. Although her free time is limited, she is looking for something to do to make ALHS a better place.
