I am pleased to announce that for the 13th year in a row we have been awarded a nutrition education grant through the Iowa Department of Public Heath. With this grant I offer monthly 30 minute nutrition education to Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade classrooms, starting in October. I also provide nutrition lessons and materials for full-day Pre-K classroom teachers.

The objectives are:
1. Increase fruit, vegetable, and lowfat dairy consumption.
2. Promote physical activity and an active lifestyle.
3. Reach parents with nutrition education .
4. Coordinate nutrition education with the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program, which is funded by a different grant.
