The student graduation rate has increased every year for the past ten years!

More Students to Attend Roosevelt Next Year

Roosevelt Elementary School will get a boost in student enrollment next school year when Walnut Grove Elementary School is closed. The Council Bluffs Board of Education approved the new school attendance areas to assign the current Walnut Grove students to four schools, including Carter Lake, Edison, Franklin and Roosevelt elementary schools. As a result of the attendance area boundary shifts, about 22 Walnut Grove students and 39 current Franklin students will be assigned next year to attend Roosevelt.

The school boundaries were drawn carefully to balance the numbers of students at each building, based on the number of classrooms available. Roosevelt currently has 344 students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, well under the number of students the building is designed to serve. Next year, enrollment is estimated to be approximately 405 students, still within the number of students our building is designed to serve.

Each Walnut Grove family and the affected Franklin families are being notified of their new school for next year so they can begin getting to know the new school’s principal, teachers, support staff, students and parents. We will be planning several opportunities for the new students to visit our school this school year to participate in activities to become familiar with the school and our great students, staff and parents.
