Crescent Student Regional Winner in State Art Contest

Crescent Elementary 5th grade student Carter Smith was awarded as a Regional Winner in the Iowa Architectural Foundation’s 2016 Architecture in the Schools drawing contest.  Carter drew a picture of the Iowa Old Capitol Building located in Iowa City, Iowa.  It was once the main government building for the state and now stands as the most prominent landmark at the center of the University of Iowa’s campus.  The building is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and was depicted on the 1946 Iowa Centennial commemorative half dollar.
