Bloomer Lynx receive a compliment

Bloomer Lynx received a compliment in today’s Daily Nonpareil in a letter to the editor. Library staff were impressed with students’ behavior during our evacuation on Monday. Bloomer Lynx are creating a great reputation for themselves and our school. Way to go, Lynx!

“I would like to commend Principal Casey Moran along with 500 students and faculty from Bloomer Elementary School who used the Council Bluffs Public Library on Monday morning as a safe place when they were evacuated due to a potential gas leak at their school.
They were incredibly well behaved as they came into the library. They separated into groups, with the youngest in the Youth Department listening to our staff read stories to them; the early elementary ages in our meeting room where Dianne Herzog, the Youth Services Manager, gave them a sneak-peek of the Summer Reading program for 2016; and the oldest elementary kids letting loose in our Teen Central room, enjoying the games, crafts and computers.
The students listened attentively to their principal and their teachers while being instructed on how they would behave in the library and ultimately how they would be dismissed to go back to their school.
All were very respectful of the library and the library staff. We were so pleased to be their place of refuge and would welcome them back anytime.
Kudos to our Council Bluffs Community School District!”
-Kathy Rieger, Council Bluffs Director, Council Bluffs Public Library
