Trimester 1 Honor Roll List!

The first trimester for the 2013-14 school year is complete! Many of our outstanding students got a GPA of 3.25 or higher in middle school. Congratulations to these students for making the honor roll! 

For middle school, gold level represents a GPA of 3.75-4.0, silver level represents a GPA of 3.74-3.50, and bronze level represents a GPA of 3.25-3.49.

New Way to Pay for School Meals

myschoolbucks logo circleWe are introducing a new way to pay for school meals with My School Bucks! The first step parents need to take is to register your child for a free account. You can then access your account balance, set up automatic payments, schedule email reminders, and download the free app for use with your smartphone! Parents can still access the “old” system to check your account balance and pay for meals.  However, we would like to encourage parents to start using My School Bucks to become familiar with the new system. 6th Grade “Urban Pet Project” Art Show

logoThe Council Bluffs Community School District Art Department is proud to announce the first-ever Sixth Grade Art Show, entitled: “Urban Pet Project…Pets with a Purpose!” It will be held NOVEMBER 19th from 6:00pm -7:30pm at Kirn Middle School. Open the story and click here to download the flyer.

For this show, students also created clay pet bowls as part of a community service project. The students are aware that their bowls will be sold, with the proceeds going to support the Midlands Humane Society. These bowls will be sold for $10 each and will be available for public purchase at the show. All proceeds will go directly to Midlands Humane Society to support our community’s animal shelter.

Kirn Students Advance in Optimist Speech Contest

Kirn 8th graders Emma Seilstad, Andrea Millstead, Brooke Harold, Calab Holder, and Jacob Kaufman all competed at the City Optimist Club Speech Contest.  This year’s topic was “Why My Voice is Important.”  With a fourth place finish by Jacob and a second-place finish by Calab, they both  competed at the zone level.  Calab then placed second and earned the honors to compete at the regional level on April 27th. Good Luck, Calab!
