Crescent Elementary Wellness Initiative Walk

The Crescent Elementary student body participated in the Wellness Initiative Walk Wednesday, October 7.  Each class walked approximately one mile on a path created by our PE Instructor, Brant Anderson and the Student Wellness Team – a group of students from the 4th and 5th grades.  Each class, along with their teacher, walked the course which made use of the nature trail that exists along the perimeter of the school playground area as well as the Crescent City Ball Park walking track.  A special thank you to Mrs. Dreismeier for staying to assist Mr. Anderson and the classes with safety as they made their way to the City Park.

Fire Prevention Program at Crescent Elementary School

Crescent Elementary students were delighted to host the Crescent Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday, October 7 at 10 AM.  In coordination with fire safety week, the CVFD provided a great presentation about fire safety, provided a coloring book to each of our students to take home and assisted us with a fire drill.  Mrs. Hannah Smith, our 5th grade teacher, participated in a contest with one of the fire men – who could get the fire equipment on fastest!  And guess who won?  Mrs. Smith!  They don’t call us Roadrunners for nothing.  A great program with a lot of fantastic information was enjoyed by every one!  Watch for us in the Council Bluffs Nonpariel also.

Mrs. Thielen – AGENT OF CHANGE

Sounds like the title to a good book doesn’t it?  However, it’s a new title for Mrs. Peggy Thielen, our second and third grade teacher at Crescent Elementary.  Mrs. Thielen was awarded the Agent of Change title with a surprise visit from Dr. Bruckner this morning.   She was one of only THREE teachers in the ENTIRE district that had a class score of 100% proficiency in a subject from the Iowa Assessment tests.  Way to go Mrs. Thielen – and your class!  Mrs. Thielen’s class was also received the highest scores in the district  for the math test scores.  Such an honor Roadrunners!  Dr. Bruckner presenting Mrs. Thielen 'Agent of Change' Award
