December Perfect Attendance Winners

We know attendance counts at Crescent Elementary and it shows! This picture reflects our December perfect attendance winners. Yes it was a short month. Yes it was nicer than normal weather. But our students are proving every day that every minute and every day counts!

We are very excited and love how the students are really being accountable for being at school every day possible.  Several of our parents have mentioned to us how disappointed their child is if they are too ill to attend.  They know it will prevent them from being awarded a free meal certificate along with the peer recognition.  It works!

Thanks to our families and most especially our students for recognizing the need for good attendance.  We are so very proud of you!

Holiday Paper Drive

The Crescent Elementary families are participating in a Holiday Paper Drive to benefit the Crescent Food Pantry.  The Crescent Food Pantry is able to purchase food items at a discount from the metropolitan area food banks which really stretches their donated funds.  However, paper products i.e. paper towells, tissues, toilet paper, etc. are not available for purchase therefore the food pantry relies totally on donated goods for these needs.

So the Roadrunners are going to FILL THE SHELVES with these types of products.  Donations are being accepted to place under the tree in the office.  Let’s see how many boxes of paper goods we can get together to send off!  We will update this news items with pictures as the donations roll in.

Perfect Attendance Awards for October 2015

Every month at Crescent Elementary, we celebrate and honor those students who have achieved perfect attendance for that month.  This means no absences, no tardies for getting to school late or leaving early.   These students are here every day, ready to learn.  They know that every day counts.

We love how excited each of our students become when their name is called.  It is also amazing how each of these students are ready to call us out if they believe they had perfect attendance and missed getting an award.  For a couple of 5th grade girls, Mrs. Sherry simply had too many interruptions when filling out the certificates and missed both of them but we quickly got them their Fazolis free meal vouchers.  And for a couple other students, we simply had to remind them of when they were gone during the month.

These two girls knew they should have been called for perfect attendance with the rest of the 5th grade class. We love how our students are accountable for being here every day!

We are striving to make each student accountable for being at school every day when they are not ill.

We start over every month for these awards.  It gives our students something to look forward to.  We honor the students not only with the meal certificates, but we also keep their names on the ‘Perfect Attendance’ wall.  We also celebrate every day when the entire school is present and accountable.  So far in 2015, we have had five of those days with four being in October!  Awesome job!

We may need to spill over onto another wall if our Perfect Attendance numbers keep rising! Let's go for it Roadrunners!

At the beginning of the month the slate is washed clean and students start over with the opportunity to achieve perfect attendance for the month.  Perfect attendance is awarded with a free meal voucher from Fazolis.

In October, 53% of our Crescent students achieved perfect attendance!  Way to go Roadrunners!
