Polls open 7 am – 8 pm
Registered voters may vote at the Pottawattamie County Courthouse now through September 12th.

Residents who are registered voters in the Council Bluffs Community School District will have the opportunity to cast a vote whether to extend the existing Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) for ten years.

With the approval of the ballot measure, Council Bluffs taxpayers will NOT see an increase in the school’s portion of the overall tax levy, which has been maintained or lowered for the past four years. The voter-approved PPEL portion of the school levy would remain at $1.34 per $1,000 of taxable valuation on property. Combined with the 33-cent, school board-approved portion of the levy, $3.5 million is available annually.

The PPEL fund is used for basic repairs and renovations to school buildings to help ensure they are well-maintained and properly equipped.  Examples of the use of the PPEL fund this past year include roof repairs, classroom equipment purchases, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility upgrades, and fire alarm system improvements.  The fund is also used on an annual basis to pay for bus leases and technology purchases to allow more of the school district’s general fund budget to be used to more directly meet student needs in the classroom.

Absentee Ballots Available
Absentee ballot request forms are available below and on Iowa Secretary of State website. All absentee ballots should be requested in time to allow for mailing, as they are due to the Election Office on the second floor of the Pottawattamie County courthouse no later than September 12th.
