2015-16 Theme logoThe Council Bluffs Community School District is pleased to provide the 2015-16 school year Annual Report to the Community. The 2015-16 school year’s theme of “Defying Gravity” was “designed to instill a belief that the District can go beyond limits that we may have set artificially low,” says Dr. Martha Bruckner, superintendent of the District.  “For several years, District employees have been working diligently to ‘lift the District’ up, and it just seemed like a time to admit that we are lifting off on our journey toward helping each child succeed.”

The Annual Report highlights Council Bluffs Schools’ achievements, enrollment, finances and more. “The most obvious celebration is the graduation rate increasing for 10 years in a row.  That is unmatched in our state and rare anywhere.  The accomplishment is symbolic of the fact that our employees can do amazing things when we set our mind to it and do the hard work needed,” says Dr. Bruckner.

Dr. Bruckner also notes that the Annual Report allows the District to celebrate success and mark progress in many different areas.  “If we have data that are troubling, we can readjust our actions to work for improvement,” she says. “We at the Council Bluffs Community School District have set a goal of doing the hard work necessary to help students become the best future person possible.  It is a natural precursor to this year’s theme [2016-17] “All Our Kids” because we can’t be satisfied to just defy gravity for some.”
